Sophie Arstall is a dance artist, maker and facilitator. She trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, UK (First BA Hons) and received a Masters in Performance at LABAN as part of the internationally touring Transitions Dance Company.
Important projects / Exhibitions:
Sophie Arstall has been working with Hagit Yakira, Candoco Dance Company, Ben Wright, Ingri Fiksdal (Norway), Rosie Kay, Rosemary Lee, Willi Dorner, Tony Mira (Spain), Harry Theaker, Bicycle Ballet, Charlie Morrissey and in Festivals such as Glyndebourne Opera, Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and Harare International Festival of Arts, Zimbabwe. She creates her own inter-disciplinary work with collaborator Elizabeth Barker under the name Average Height Ladies. Their most recent commission has been a short film for Channel 4 Random Acts, which received international acclaim. She teaches contemporary dance and works as an Assistant and Rehearsal Director in both community and professional settings.
Awards / Prizes :
The short film ‚To the End of the Fingertips’, created 2016 together with dance artist Elizabeth Barker for Channel 4 Random Acts, is shown internationally and has won several awards.
